Hanna Hirano

Hi! I’m Hanna and I recently joined the LLaMA lab as a research assistant at the Indy site. I am a recent graduate from the University of South Florida where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in children’s behavioral healthcare. During my time there, I worked at the USF RightPath Research and Innovation Center where I was involved in ongoing studies researching the effects of bilingual vs. monolingual instruction on emerging bilingual children. I supervised and administered a variety of dual language interventions to young children in several schools around my county in person and virtually and worked with a diverse team to create Spanish narrative language measures for these interventions.  I am interested in bilingual/multilingual language learning and researching how socioeconomic factors affect dual language learning in Hispanic populations. With this, I am interested in a future in school psychology with a focus on prevention and intervention within school systems in hopes of improving language development in youg children who are at risk of poor outcomes. I hope to expand my overall knowledge of word learning and development in children during my time here at the lab! Outside of the lab, I love to crochet, paint, and go on long walks with my dog Bo!
